Art Classes for Adults: Beginning/Intermediate/Advanced Oil Painting
Beginners will learn the basics of oil painting: prepping the canvas, mixing colors, brush techniques, composition and light and shadow. Intermediate painters will review color mixing and composition and choosing subject matter. Advanced painters will receive individualized instruction based on their ability level. Don’t be intimidated — this can be fun! Cost to register $95. Supply list will be emailed upon receipt of registration. Registration deadline a week before first night of class. Art Classes for Adults: Beginner/Intermediate/Advanced Watercolor Painting
Watercolor painting has been at the foundation of every artists career since the late 1500's and is still used widely today among artists and draftsmen. This class will cover all the classic watercolor techniques as well as more abstract and experimental ones. Watercolor is the perfect medium for those just getting started and yet challenges even the most skilled painters. Students will also become familiar with watercolor pencils. Art Classes for Adults: Abstracting for Intermediate Painters
Have you ever said, "I could paint that?" Let's find out if you can! We will create paintings without subject matter in acrylic or oil paints. We will study color, texture, composition and brush technique. We will experiment with different sized canvases and brushes and with collage techniques. Artists' Round Table
This is an opportunity to meet other artists who are practicing and displaying their work, to view portfolios and receive feedback on your own, even to barter for artwork. There will be discussions of framing, pricing, printing technologies, paper qualities, grouping bodies of artwork, adding value to your work, creating inventories, copyrights, choosing venues, festivals/events, etc. The sessions will be moderated and we will have break out sessions by medium - (i.e. photographers can meet with other photographers). These will be unintimidating, social events and hopefully, very helpful to your work as artists. Feel free to register for one or both. Art Classes for Adults: Plein Air Painting
Once you've copied "the masters" and worked from your own photographs, the next challenge for painters is to paint outdoors. Using drawing materials, watercolor, acrylic and oil paints, we will render cityscapes, seascapes, still lifes and landscapes in this class that meets 5 consecutive Saturdays for 3 morning hours outside at various locations in Baltimore (Ft McHenry, Federal Hill Park, Cross St Market, Riverside Park, Fort Ave. industrial space). The first class will start at 1419 Riverside Ave., Baltimore, MD 21230. A material list will be emailed upon registration. Intermediate and advanced painters (this class is not for beginners) will receive individualized instruction based on their ability level. Instructor: Nick Aumiller. Cost $95 + supplies.
Advanced Digital Photography
This class is for students who have completed at least 2 two-hour sessions of an introductory photography course. The focus here is on field work to allow the students to apply what was learned in previous sessions to the type of photography they wish to pursue. Field work will be customized to the interests of the students (for ex. photographing children, landscapes, animals, etc). Maximum class size 4 people. Have you ever thought of your iPad as an artist's tool? In this class we will be exploring free apps that can be used to create artwork and we will be viewing the work of famous artists so we can duplicate their styles in digital art. We’ll “update” Pop Art (Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein), Impressionism (Claude Monet and Vincent van Gogh), Surrealism (Salvador Dali), anamorphic art (Hans Holbein) and Abstraction (Vassily Kandinsky).You should come to class with a fully charged iPad that has the following apps downloaded on it: Photo Booth, Abstract You, Doodle Buddy, Brushes, Youdoodle, Adobe Draw, Adobe Shape, and Draw. Introduction to Digital Photography
This class provides the opportunity to learn how to use your camera in a more effective manner to create better photos. The class covers the basics of digital photography. Topics include: camera controls, speed, aperture, ISO and shooting modes, depth of field, correct exposure, photographic composition and lighting. The class includes practical applications of the photographic techniques that the students will expected to practice outside of class. You will also cover common accessories such as a flash and tripod. In addition, the instructor will provide students with advice as to choices of equipment and software for each individual's goals in photography and recommendations on camera purchases or upgrades. Students are required to have an adjustable* digital camera either DSLR, Superzoom, interchangeable lens compact or compact. Students will be expected to bring the camera with instruction book to class each week. 6/2/16, 6/7/16 and 6/9/16 6:30pm-8:00pm and two 2 hour outdoor shoots will be scheduled. Students will be allowed to participate in only one outdoor photo shoot. Cost $95. Drawing for Beginners, Intermediate, Advanced
This class will focus on a variety of drawing approaches, from the realistic to the abstract. Special attention will be given to the area of portraiture. Beginners will be introduced to the basics of drawing, including exercises that appeal to both its technical and creative components. Intermediate and advanced students will receive individualized instruction as they work to improve and refine their skills.
