Art Classes for Adults: Beginning/Intermediate/Advanced Oil Painting
Beginners will learn the basics of oil painting: prepping the canvas, mixing colors, brush techniques, composition and light and shadow. Intermediate painters will review color mixing and composition and choosing subject matter. Advanced painters will receive individualized instruction based on their ability level.
Art Classes for Adults: Beginner/Intermediate/Advanced Watercolor Painting
Watercolor Painting has been at the foundation of every artists career since the late 1500's and is still used widely today among artists and draftsmen. This class will cover all the classic watercolor techniques as well as more abstract and experimental ones. Watercolor is the perfect medium for those just getting started and yet challenges even the most skilled painters. Students will also learn how to draw and paint with watercolor pencils. Art Classes for Adults: Abstracting for Intermediate Painters
Have you ever said, "I could paint that?" Let's find out if you can! We will create paintings without subject matter in acrylic or oil paints. We will study color, texture, composition and brush technique. We will experiment with different sized canvases and brushes and with collage techniques. This is a great opportunity to use abstracting to amplify your developing technique. Supply list will be mailed. Introduction to Digital Photography-(15yo - adult)So you have now purchased a digital camera but are overwhelmed with all the features? Or perhaps you were hoping your pictures could look a little more creative or imaginative? Professional photographer and artist Randall Gornowich brings over 15 years of classes in basic digital photography designed for the beginner or intermediate student.Learn camera basics, simple technical ins and outs, elements of design and then explore the world as you take on creative weekly assignments. You will soon understand how to create more interesting compositions and solve photographic challenges. Drawing for Beginners, Intermediate, Advanced
(ages 12 and up) This class will focus on a variety of drawing approaches, from the realistic to the abstract. Special attention will be given to the area of portraiture. Beginners will be introduced to the basics of drawing, including exercises that appeal to both its technical and creative components. Intermediate and advanced students will receive individualized instruction as they work to improve and refine their skills. Supply list will be emailed. Art Classes for Adults: Plein Air Painting
Once you've copied "the masters" and worked from your own photographs, the next challenge for painters is to paint outdoors. We will render cityscapes, seascapes, still lifes and landscapes in this class that meets Saturdays 9:30am-12:30pm 5/11/13 and 5/18/13 and 9:30am-11:30am 6/8 outside at various locations in Baltimore (Ft McHenry, Federal Hill Park, Cross St Market, Riverside Park, Fort Ave. industrial space). The first class will start at 1419 Riverside Ave., Baltimore, MD 21230. A material list will be emailed upon registration. Art Classes for Adults: Beyond Basic Digital Photography – Putting it all together
This class works on putting it all together. You have learned about shutter speeds and f/stops; now practice and expand on how to use them in creating the images you want. This class will cover subjects such as composition, metering the image, creating depth and more.There will also be the opportunity to receive constructive criticism and critique of your images PREREQUISITES: A digital SLR camera, completion of the Introduction to Digital Photography course or a full working knowledge of your digital SLR. Fridays at Covenant, 4550 Centennial Lane, Columbia, MD 21042 9:30am-12pm 1/3/14-3/14/14 (no class 1/17/14)Instructors will alternate for this class - cost for 10 weeks $285.00.Drop-in rate is $24. Ann Wiker will teach oil painting on 1/3/14, 1/10/14, 1/24/14, 2/14/14, and 3/14/14. Hilary Christian will teach during the remaining weeks:Students will use art materials for self discovery by exploring personal myths and archetypes. Students will be given instruction about how to use materials both technically and creatively. Emphasis is on personal development and not on product completion. Homework assignments can be given if students would like to continue working at home. Materials to be used: drawing, collage, painting.
